One of the wonderful flowers I see all summer long at local gardens are zinnias. I recently realized that for some reason – I rarely photograph them. And I’m not even sure why.

As members of the aster family, they are another set of those wonderful brightly colored round flowers that stay in bloom even on the hottest days of the summer. So you would think that I’d be photographing them on a regular basis.

I only photographed a few zinnias this summer – and now that I’ve realized how few zinnia photos I’ve taken in recent years, I’ll probably try to take a few more next summer.

But in the meantime – here are few zinnias from last summer to brighten your day as it’s getting colder here in the DC area.

Pink Zinnias – I loved the dew drops I found on this zinnia.
