On a recent visit to the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens in Richmond, I photographed two varieties of Clivia Miniata. The signs at Lewis Ginter referred to the flowers as Flame Lily – online sites refer to them as Bush Lilies.
The first set of blossoms I photographed were a bright orange cluster of flowers atop one of the plants.

Then I spotted this cascade of orange blossoms on another plant.

Across the walkway, there was another Clivia Miniata plant – the citrina variety with lovely yellow blossoms.

I love the soft yellow on those Clivia Miniata flowers. They’re so gorgeous. Excellent pictures!
Hi there, I was just doing a web search for ‘flame lilies’ and these images came up…The botanical gardens signs were incorrect – flame lilies are very different plants. I’m from South Africa where these plants grow and here we just call these ‘clivias’. I haven’t heard the term ‘bush lily’ before but it appears this is also a correct name for them…
Anyway, nice photos 🙂
