I’m having a fantastic time photographing wildflowers here in Tennessee. I’ve been posting some of my photos an album on my Facebook Fan Page for my flower photography and wanted to share some of them with people who read my blog.
I took this set of wildflower photos at Reflection Riding Arboretum in Chattanooga – which is an absolutely amazing place to see spring wildflowers. This was my first visit – it definitely won’t be my last. I’m already trying to figure out how to get back there for another visit on this trip.
Blue Eyed Mary – Collinsia verna Nutt.
(c) 2010 Patty Hankins
Shooting Stars – Dodecatheon meadia
An orange and yellow azalea bush – don’t know the variety but it is certainly spectacular!
Spring Beauty – Claytonia caroliniana
Blue Phlox – Phlox divaricata
Wild Columbine – Aquilegia canadensis
I’ve had a few wonderful days photographing the spring wildflowers. Next up is the Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage where I’ll be selling my photographs at the Exhibit Hall in the Mills Conference Center. Followed by several more days of wildflower photography before I head home.
I’ll continue posting photos to the album on Facebook and will try to get another blog post or two up while I’m on the road. If you’re on Facebook and would like to see my photos as I post them, I’d like to invite you to become a fan of my flower photography on Facebook.
Hi Patty
I love the magnolia photo of yours and wondered if you cared if I tried to paint it and perhaps if anyone that I teach would like to try it with me, we could do it together?
It really is an exquisite photo. I have a nice one of my own since one of my neighbours is kind enough to have a tree but yours is soooo much nicer than mine. However I can send you mine if you wish. Valerie
I love your photos, I just moved to Tn. this past Feb. Have been trying to find out some of the wildflowers growing on the ten acres we just bought. Your site, with photos, has been more helpful than any of the plant id sites I have vistited. Thanks so much for posting pictures and names of the beautiful plants I see here everyday. It has given me some kind of direction to which would be suitable for replanting into a colorful garden.
Thanks again, and keep up the good work, I’ll be back checking on more mystery flowers.
Just want to say your photo’s are great ,and I have a question that you might can help with.
There is a flower growing in my woods that is white like a mayapple bloom ,but with aster like petals.
I have seen wild wood aster, chick weed ,and golden seal ,but the leaves is what just doesnt match.
The leaves fan out like a hand with five different fingers, three at the top ,and two on the sides ,and no bigger than a half a dollar. I hope you have an idea..
Thanks again.
