On my recent trip to Gettysburg National Military Park, I spent some time photographing the Virginia Memorial. Located near the center of Seminary Ridge, the memorial depicts General Robert E. Lee atop his horse Traveller, along with seven men representing all the men of Virginia who fought at Gettysburg.
Commissioned by the state of Virginia in 1908, the memorial was completed and dedicated on June 8, 1917. The memorial was sculpted by Frederick William Sievers.

The Virginia Memorial is on West Confederate Avenue – shortly after the North Caroline Memorial and before the ampitheater where the Longstreet Memorial is located. My photos of the North Carolina Memorial and the Longstreet Memorial are included in my blog post about Gettysburg.
