Over the past few weeks, Bill has been doing some fall photography in the local area. Due to job commitments and shows, he wasn’t able to do get away to do any photography. What was great – was that locally he found wonderful scenes to photograph.
First, a few back lit leaves. If you like taking advantage of the the colorful leaves, one way to really bring out the color is to backlight the leaves. Both of these photos were framed with the setting sun backlighting the leaves.
Here’s a close up with a narrow depth of field.

And one from a little further back, highlighting the pattern of the branches among the leaves.

Virginia Creeper turns a great red color in the fall – here’s a vine climbing up a tree. Bill borrowed my 70-200 f.2.8 lens for this photo. He figured out why I love the lens so much – it’s great for narrow depth of field photos when you want to isolate a subject from its background.

The final two photos are from a field of black-eyed susans near his office. He used my 70-200 lens at f2.8 to isolate some of the flowers from the background.

And photographing down a line of flowers.

Even if you don’t get a chance to travel to exotic locations for fall color, keep an eye out as fall arrives in your area – you never know what you might find locally.
Love the top three, really beautiful.
Lovely photos. I esp. liked the tree with the back lit leaves. Very dramatic.
