This is one of a series of photographs inspired by the Impressionist painter Berthe Morisot. When I saw an exhibit of her work a few years ago, I was struck by how she portrayed quite behind the scenes moments in women’s lives – as they cared for their children, prepared for an evening out, played a musical instrument or just sat at their dressing table. Inspired by these paintings, I’m working with models to create photographs showing private moments in women’s lives.
In this photograph, Ivory Flame is thinking about the wonderful evening she spent with the man she loves

Ok – so I’m giving up on trying to organize posts subject. These days, I’m just grouping by season or subject or location.
So – here are some of the photos I’ve taken in my studio

Cosmos © 2021 Patty Hankins
This is another photograph in my series of flowers photographed as portraits with custom backgrounds designed to highlight what I see as the personality of the flowers. For this photo, I was struck by how the one cosmos in the center stands out from all the others – not just because it is a different color, but because it was putting it’s petals forward. It reminded me of a strong woman – leading others fearlessly – to do what she knows is right – not worrying about what others will think.

Ok – so I’m giving up on trying to organize posts by subject – and will just do it by season at least for a while. There are lots of posts with just a few photos lined up – and at the rate I’m going – I may never get enough photos for an entire post dedicated to a specific topic.
So – here are some of the wonderful fall scenes I’ve photographed over the years
