One of things I love to do in New Orleans is just walk around and listen to the music. Especially it the French Quarter – it seems like there is another set of wonderful musicians playing in the streets around every corner.
Here are some of my photos of New Orleans Street Musicians
On a walk through New Orleans’ Faubourg Marigny neighborhood a few years ago, I found myself photographing the unexpected art I was seeing – whether it was what some might call grafitti to murals to painting around a store entrance. Here are some of my favorite photos from my walk.
Sometimes when I’m walking around a city like New Orleans – I just wander with my camera in hand, photographing whatever catches my eye. When I get back and look at my photos for the day, sometimes I’ll see that a theme as emerged in my photos of the day. All of these photos came from a walk in the French Quarter where I seemed to be focusing on architectural details.
In the Victorian Language of Flowers, bronze chrysanthemums symbolize friendship. As I created this still life, I imagined a woman about to jot a quick note on a postcard to her best friend. They have been friends since childhood, maintaining their friendship across the miles and through the years by regularly sending notes, letters, cards and photographs.
This photograph is available matted to 11 X 14 and 16 X 20
I hope this newsletter finds all of you and your friends and families doing well.
I’m still here in Bethesda staying at home. April is usually one of my favorite times of the year for photographing. There are wildflowers blooming in the parks and tulips blooming in the gardens. And chances are, this year I’m not going to get to photograph any of them.
I’ve put together a new video – Tulip Time – with some of my favorite tulip photographs – to remind all of us of the beauty in the world. My photos are accompanied by a Medley of Voices of Springs Waltz by J. Strauss
Like many other small businesses, I have been figuring out how to adapt to these new and different times we’re living in. I have suspended in person workshops and events through May 30.
My “Do You Need Help Editing Your Photos” sessions have gone virtual. This is a chance for you to learn how Bill and I approach editing, and we’ll show you how we would edit one of your photos in Lightroom and Photoshop. Virtual sessions are limited to 4 people. There is no charge to attend. As I schedule sessions, I let people who have expressed interest in attending know when we have an opening. If you’d like to join the list to attend one of our virtual sessions, just drop me a note at Patty@Hankins.net and let me know.
Bill and I are both available for individual instruction and consultation on using your camera, photo editing (Lightroom and Photoshop) and printing. We can also help with theartistic side of your photography, including seeing, capturing your vision, and how to edit to match your vision. For the foreseeable future, sessions will be held virtually. The fee is $75.00/hour for individual instruction.
