A Few Members of the Ranunculus family

The more I photograph flowers, the more I learn about them and the families they belong to. The Ranunculus or buttercup family is one that I’ve discovered I like an awful lot of flowers that are members of the family! So often I photograph a flower at a garden and then come home to learn that it too is a member of the Ranculus family. Here are a few photos of flowers in this wonderful family.

Butterfly Weed – Asclepias Tuberosa

Butterfly Weed – Asclepias Tuberosa

Earlier this summer I had a chance to photograph some wonderful Butterfly Weed (Asclepias tuberosa) at Mt Cuba Center in Delaware. They had it growing in both their formal gardens and in multiple places in the more natural areas of the property. Every where I saw the butterfly weed, I saw butterflies! It is a great host plant for those of us in the Middle-Atlantic region who want to attract pollinators to our gardens. I planted several earlier this year and already I’m seeing butterflies visiting my garden.

The 2019 Cats of Catskill, New York – Part 7

The 2019 Cats of Catskill, New York – Part 7

For the past 13 years, the Heart of Catskill Association in Catskill, New York has organized a public art project Cat’N Around Catskill for cat lovers everywhere! Each year, artists decorate cat sculptures and they are placed on Main Street and a few other locations in town. I first saw the Cats in 2017 when I was photographing in the area. Last month, I spent some time in the Hudson River Valley, so of course I had to check out this year’s cats.

This year, there are 52 cats on display. I had a wonderful time photographing the 48 that I found. I’ll be sharing photos of some of them all this week in a series of blog posts.

And so here they are – the 2019 Cats of Catskill
