I recently got a bunch of apricot tulips and had a wonderful time photographing the patterns in the petals. I loved seeing the ever-changing combinations of red, white, cream and yellow depending on how I lit the tulip and what angle I photographed from.

When I saw these wonderful sunflowers at a local farm stand, I knew I wanted to photograph them in close, showing the wonderful patterns in the center of the flowers and highlighting the bright sunny yellow in the petals.
This photograph is available matted to 11 X 14 for $ 54 or 16 X 20 for $ 109.

It’s almost here! My spring 2019 solo show “The Beauty of Flowers” will be on display from Tuesday February 26 through Sunday April 28 at the Horticulture Center at Green Spring Gardens in Alexandria, Virginia
I’m hard at work finishing up the photographs for the show. I will have close to 50 of my flower photographs on display along the ramp and in the Atrium.
The NOVA Plein Air Artists group will be showing paintings in “Beyond the Garden Gates” in the Meeting Room of the Horticulture Center.
I’d love for you to join me at a joint Opening Reception for the two shows on Saturday March 2 from 1 – 3 PM.
The Horticulture Center is located at 4603 Green Spring Road in Alexandria. When you visit Green Spring, please don’t put that address in your GPS! If you do – chances are you will end up at a closed off entrance to the garden. The entrance to the Green Spring Gardens is on Witch Hazel Road off of Braddock Road in Alexandria.
I hope to see you on March 2!

I recently photographed a couple of sets of tulips in my studio – I thought I’d share the photos with you today. Believe it or not – I bought both sets of tulips at my local grocery store!
This first set were parrot tulips – with red, great, yellow, and orange in the petals. They reminded me of all the colors in the rainbow

I’ve recently added a new photograph – Hollyhill Pinkie Dahlia – to my website at https://beautifulflowerpictures.com/store/dahlia-hollyhill-pinkie/

Late summer/early fall at the local gardens means it’s dahlia time. Every year, I’m amazed at the spectacular dahlias I see on display. This Hollyhill Pinkie Dahlia caught my eye and I couldn’t stop photographing it. I loved the shape of the petals. The fact that they are white with a border of bold pink just made them that much more special.
This photograph is available matted to 11 X 14 for $ 54 or 16 X 20 for $ 109
