Back to Bonaventure Cemetery

Last spring I visited Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia for the first time. The cemetery has that wonderful combination of old graves with wonderful statuary, spanish moss and incredible history. I returned to Bonaventure Cemetery in March of this year as part of my Springtime in the South photo tour. It gave me another opportunity to capture the atmosphere in the cemetery.

One major difference between the two visits was the weather. Last year, I photographed at Bonaventure on a very cloudy day – so I captured very few deep shadows and more saturated colors. This year, the sun was shining and there was hardly a cloud in the sky. So my photos have much more intense shadows that last year. What’s always fun is returning to a location and photographing under difference circumstances – and then taking a look at the difference the weather can make in a photograph.
