Dahlias
It’s Dahlia season! And even with Covid – I’ve been able to photograph some amazing flowers. I’ve gotten most of the flowers from a local flower farm – Plantmasters. I love the flowers I’m able to get from them at local farm markets.

I’ve recently added a new photograph – Yellow Gerbera Daisy – to my website at https://beautifulflowerpictures.com/store/daisygerberyellow/
Gerbera daisies always make me smile. When I spotted this one growing in a friend’s garden, I had to photograph it. I just loved seeing all the details in the petals and the center of this bright yellow flower.

A few days ago, I spent a morning photographing Chrysanthemums at Longwood Gardens. I thought I’d share a few of my photos from there with you today.
I’ve recently added a new photograph – Two Sunflowers – to my website at https://beautifulflowerpictures.com/store/two-sunflowers/
Every summer I love to photograph local sunflowers. This year, I bought some from a local farmer and brought them into my studio. At first, I was a bit frustrated since I couldn’t get the flowers to open up and face me the way I wanted to. And then I looked more closely at what was in front of me – and was amazed at the contrast of colors between the bright yellow and soft greens, the contrast of the soft petals and the spiny hairs along the leave and at how the flowers popped against the black background. All of a sudden, I was really pleased that I couldn’t photograph the sunflowers the way I wanted to – and instead photographed them the way they presented themselves to me.
The photograph is available matted to 11 X 14 or 16 X 20.
Over the weekend, I spent some time at Longwood Gardens photographing some of the dahlias in the 2019 Greater Philadelphia Dahlia Society Show. As always, the flowers were amazing. Unfortunately conditions weren’t great at the show for photography this year – so I only have a few photos rather than usual several blog posts full of dahlia photos. I hope you seeing enjoy my photos from this year’s show.
