I love dahlias! Especially all the shapes, colors and textures in the petals. So in the fall, I kind of go crazy photographing them – at local gardens and in the studio. Earlier this year, I photographed a set of Purple Rain Dahlias in my studio, I thought I’d share the photos of these fun flowers with you today.
I recently visited Longwood Gardens and had a chance to photograph some of the flowers in their annual Chrysanthemum Festival. As always, I was amazed at the variety and beauty of all the wonderful mums on display. I thought I’d share some of my photos from the show with you today.

Dahlias are some of my favorite flowers to photograph. Whether at a local garden, a dahlia society show or in my studio, I find myself fascinated with all the colors, shapes and patterns I see in the petals. I’ve created a video with some of my recent dahlia photos. The photos are accompanied by Clementi’s Sonatina No 5, Opus 36.
In early September I had a chance to visit Longwood Gardens for the annual Dahlia Show presented by the Greater Philadelphia Dahlia Society. I love photographing flowers at this show – there are always hundreds of spectacular dahlias at peak bloom to photograph. I thought I’d share a few of my photos from the show with you today.
