Estella Rijnveld Parrot Tulips

Every year Longwood Gardens creates an amazing display of tulips! When I visit Longwood in late April, I know I’ll likely see some varieties I’ve seen before – and some that are new to me.

This year – one of the spectacular tulips I photographed for the first time were the Estalla Rijnveld Parrot Tulips. Bright colors, fabulous shapes, incredible textures – what more could a flower photographer ask for than what I found in these extraordinary tulips.

Whether I’m photographing in my studio or at a garden – I love tulips! They come in so many different varieties that I always find new shapes, colors and textures to photograph. Here are a few tulip photos I’ve edited recently.

I’m not really sure what kind of parrot tulip this is but with almost every color of the rainbow in the petals of various tulips in the bunch, I decided to call it a rainbow parrot tulip. As I photographed the petals, I was amazed at all the colors and textures I was seeing.

When I saw these beautiful pink and white tulips at the store, I fell in love with their soft colors. As they opened up and I brought them into my studio to photograph, the layers of soft petals were what caught my eye and what I tried to capture in my photograph.

I love Parrot Tulips. When this one opened up the petals folded outward allowing me to capture the beauty of the fully open blossom in a way I have seldom seen before.

Lovely Lilies
