I’ve started exploring still life. There is something wonderful about not only creating a scene but also photographing it. I bought the peony in the photo at my local farmers market. When I combined that with the strawberries, for some reason I started imaging an afternoon tea. So I pulled out my tea service and set up an afternoon tea with strawberries.

This photo is available matted to 11 X 14 and 16 X 20.

I’ve recently added a new photo – Pink & White Peony to my website at https://beautifulflowerpictures.com/store/peonypinkwhite/

Peonies are one of the those flowers that have a very shoot blooming period. But when they do bloom, they are some of the most spectacular flowers in the garden. This pink and white petals on this peony are some of the most beautiful I’ve seen. And then the surprise splash of red in the center just adds to it’s beauty.

I used my Lensbaby Velvet 56 lens for this photograph to capture the delicate softness of the petals

This photo is available matted to 11 X 14 and 16 X 20.

I’ve recently added a new photo – The Herb Shop, Central Market, Lancaster, Pennsylvania to my website at https://beautifulflowerpictures.com/store/herb-shop/

On a recent trip to Lancaster, Pennsylvania I spent some time photographing at the Central Market. Founded in 1730, Central Market is oldest continuously operated farmer’s market in the country! The market is currently housed in a Romanesque Revival style building constructed in 1889. Within the market, 65 vendors sell everything from meat to produce, flowers to baked goods, and everything in between. The market is open on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. If you’re in Lancaster, it’s well worth taking time out to visit the market (and get something to eat).

The Herb Shop booth was one of my favorite places to photograph. Their display of shelves and jars was perfect for photographing still lifes. I could easily have spent an hour photographing at just this one booth. I loved the combination of tea infusers, jars of teas, herbs and spices, and even a few catnip toys. I loved the layers of interest the shop owner created in the display.

This photo is available matted to 11 X 14 and 16 X 20.

I’ve recently added a new photo Dogwood & Azaleas at Shofuso Japanese Gardens to my website at https://beautifulflowerpictures.com/store/shofusodogwoodazaleas/

One of the lesser known gardens in Philadelphia is the Shofuso Japanese House and Gardens in West Fairmount Park which has a fascinating history. The house was built in Japan in 1953 when is was exhibited at Museum of Modern Art in New York. After the exhibition in New York, the house was moved to it’s current location in Philadelphia’s West Fairmount Park. The site has been the home to Japanese buildings and landscaping dating back to the 1876 Centennial Exposition. For many years, it was the home of a Japanese Buddhist Temple Gate brought to the United States for the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exhibition. The gardens currently occupy 1.2 acres, complete with hills, a koi pond, the house and a tea house.
During one of my visits to Shofuso, the azaleas and dogwood were blooming. I couldn’t resist photographing this beautiful peaceful scene of the flowering trees and shrubs and their reflections.
This photograph is available matted to 12 X 20 from $ 84 and 16 X 24 for $ 134.

I’ve recently added a new photo – Bleeding Hearts to my website at https://beautifulflowerpictures.com/store/bleeding-hearts-1/

Bleeding Hearts are one of my favorite flowers to see at local gardens in the spring. The bright pink flowers complement the wonderful light green leaves when the sun hits them just right.

I photographed this set of bleeding hearts with my Lensbaby Velvet 56 lens to get the lovely soft focused background behind the main flowers.

This photo is available matted to 11 X 14 and 16 X 20.
