Just from the name alone – Peaches and Dreams – I knew I’d love these dahlias. And then I got them into my studio. As I photographed the petals, I kept being reminded of how the mountain ridges overlap from certain viewpoints along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

As I looked at this Purple Rain Dahlia in the viewfinder of my camera, from this angle the petals looked like an amazing purple and white landscape meant for exploring.

When I saw these carnations at the store, I couldn’t resist bringing them home. I loved the combination of pinks and white in the petals. I also was fascinated by the jagged edges of the petals.

As I photographed this wonderful Pink Cloni Ranunculus, the colors reminded me of a soft sunrise at the beach just as the sun is about to reach the horizon. I can see all the yellows, peaches and pinks in the petals as colors in the sky.

I love photographing this set of pink and yellow dahlias. The colors in the flowers were just so bright and cheery. As I edited this photo, I couldn’t help but smile as I looked at it and saw the beautiful flowers and bright colors.

As I photographed these wonderful callas, I felt like I was seeing gentle rolling hills in a bright pink landscape rather than flowers. So as I edited the photo, I wanted to share the sense of rolling hills with you. To share the look I wanted to share, I needed to take 8 separate photographs and merge them into this final image.
