When I saw these carnations at the store, I couldn’t resist bringing them home. I loved the combination of pinks and white in the petals. As I photographed these flowers, I became fascinated by the swirls and curves in the petals.

When I saw these carnations at the store, I couldn’t resist bringing them home. I loved the combination of pinks and white in the petals. I also was fascinated by the jagged edges of the petals.

When I saw how these petals of several purple and white Picasso callas looked in my studio, the waves and contrasting colors reminded me of the fields of crops in the Palouse region of Washington State. There, the colors were green and gold, in my studio, they were purple and white.

As I photographed this wonderful purple and white ranunculus in my studio I loved seeing the patterns of the bits of purple on the petals – and what to me looked like a seashell pattern in the open petals.
