I’ve recently added a new photo –  Star Campanella Rose  – to the shop on my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

What can I say – other than WOW!!!!! When I saw the Star Campanella Roses at my local floral wholesaler I knew I had to get them and photograph them. The soft layers of yellow petals seem to go on forever. The more I looked at the details of this beautiful flower, the more patterns and textures I saw to photograph.  For this photo, I chose to show the beautiful complex center and the delicate edge petals of the rose

Star Campanella Rose is available as a matted print on my website.

I’ve recently added a new photo – Sunset at Assateague Light – to the shop on my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

I love visiting Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge and the Assateague National Seashore – especially during the winter. I’ve photographed sunset from the Wildlife Drive several times. In 2015, I photographed one of the most amazing sunsets I’ve ever seen – the sky was filled with incredible shades of pink and purple. At one point, I looked over at the Assateague Light – and saw how beautifully it was silhouetted against the sky – and how the light was reflecting across the water. So of course I had to photograph it. Seeing the light like this reminds me of how important lighthouses were to ships in the years before GPS and other navigation systems – they truly provided people with landmarks to help them navigate – and warnings for when they were too close to shore.

I’ve recently added a new photo – Middle Prong Little River, Great Smoky Mountains National Park – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

As you may know, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is my favorite national park – and spring is my favorite time to visit. This photo shows you one of the reasons I love the Smokies at that time of year. There’s just something about the streams running full with water – surrounded by that shade of green leaves you only see for a few weeks in the spring. I always have such a sense of joy when I’m in the Smokies photographing scenes like this.

I’ve recently added a new photo – View from Steptoe Butte  – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

In July I made my first visit to the Palouse region of Washington state. Over the years, I’ve seen many photos of the farms and fields in the region highlighting the contrasting colors between the wheat and other crops growing on the farms. But it wasn’t until I got there and saw how large the area is and for how many miles some of the fields seem to stretch on for that I began to understand the scope of the agricultural industry in that part of the state – and the incredible beauty of the farms. One of my favorite places to photograph the fields in the Palouse is from the top of Steptoe Butte. Located in Steptoe Butte State Park, the butte rises about 1000 feet over the surrounding landscape, providing photographers and others a 360 degree view of the fields in the area. During my few days in the region, I photographed from the top of the butte several times – this was my favorite photo – showing the vastness of the fields with a farm giving a sense of scale, and the varying shades of green, yellow, gold and brown in the fields. I had a wonderful photographing in the Palouse – and hope to return there soon.

I’ve recently added a new photo – Bob Trickett Water Lily – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

Water lilies can be such delicate summer blooming flowers. I love seeing all the colors of water lilies are some of the local gardens. Not only do the petals come in all sorts of wonderful shades but the centers are often a complimentary color – like the pale purple and yellow combined in this wonderful Bob Trickett Water Lily. When I saw this lovely water lily, I knew I had to photograph it. I zoomed in to capture just the center with part of the petals rather than photographing the whole flower surrounded by water, which I’ve done with several other water lilies I’ve photographed. I hope you enjoy this different view of a water lily as much as I do.
