I’ve recently added a new photo – Live Oaks with Spanish Moss – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.
OK – so it’s a landscape photo not a flower photo! I’ve really been enjoying the more traditional landscape photography I’ve been doing lately and when I’ve posted some of the photos on social media they’ve gotten a good response – so I’ve decided to start listing some of my landscape photographs on my BeautifulFlowerPictures site – until I have enough of them available that I’m ready to set up a separate site with my landscape photos.
This is one of the photos I took earlier this year when I was in Savannah, Georgia. Over the years, I’ve seen so many photos of trees covered with ferns and Spanish moss – so seeing and photographing scenes like this was one of my goals for the trip. Wow did I see a lot of spanish moss covered trees that week. This photo was taken at one of my favorite locations – Wormsloe Historic Site – where there is a fabulous Live Oak Alley of trees like this. I loved photographing not only the tree-lined alley, but also detailed scenes of the trees. Here, I was fascinated by the branches covered with the resurrection ferns cross and weave amongst each other to form an intricate pattern of green and brown, with the gray of Spanish Moss filling in the spaces between the branches.

I’ve recently added a new photo – White Lotus – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.
I love seeing the lotus blossoms in the summer. At Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens here in the DC area, there are more than 20 ponds of lotus blossoms that bloom each summer. All of them are the wonderful pink lotuses that most of us are familiar with. So you can imagine how happy I was to see this amazing white lotus blooming at a botanical garden. In some ways it seems even more spectacular than the pink ones since the soft white petals curl around the yellow center in ways that the pink ones don’t. I loved photographing this one – and when I viewed it from above – I knew that that was the image I wanted to capture and be able to share with all of you.

I’ve recently added a new photo – Lavender Parrot Tulip – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.
As I’ve been photographing tulips in recent years, I’ve really fallen in love with the Parrot Tulips. Every one I’ve seen and photographed has not only had wonderfully textured petals and also come in spectacular colors. This lavender parrot tulip is no exception. When I brought this tulip in my studio I couldn’t believe all the shades of purple and lavender I saw. And I just loved seeing the little bits of yellow and green in the petals with all the purples.
Now every time I’m at my local floral warehouse I look for more parrot tulips that will be as much fun to photograph as this one was 🙂

I’ve recently added a new photo – Rainbow Sorbet Rose – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.
Rainbow Sorbet Roses are one of my favorite roses to photograph. Every blossom is a wonderful combination of bright yellows and pinks. In this closeup photo of the blossom you can see how many shades of color there are in the flower – and how they blend from one shade to the next. I’ve recently added a new photo – Texas Gold Parrot Tulips – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.
When I first spotted the Texas Gold Parrot Tulips at a local garden – I knew I had to photograph them! Most of them had bright yellow ruffled petals with just a hint of red around the edge of the petal. And then I spotted one with so much more red than any of the other tulips. So I composed my photo to show that one tulip standing out in the bed of tulips. I just loved how they looked in the garden – and in my final photo.

I’ve recently added a new photo – Crystal White Calla Lily – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.
White Calla Lilies are one of those flowers that so many people love – and that lots of women had in their wedding bouquets! So they are one of the flowers I get the most requests for photos in various shapes and sizes from people. So I’m always on the looking for calla lilies in great shape to photograph.
I’ve photographed a number of calla lilies at local gardens and while I’ve been happy with some of the photos I never felt like any of them captured the delicate beauty of the calla lilies. Until I took this photo of a Crystal White Calla Lily in my studio. Since I could control the light I was able to show both the delicate curve of the overlapping petals – and the curl at the tip of the blossom.
