I’ve recently added a new photo –  Brilliant Tulips – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

Brilliant is the perfect name for this variety of tulips. They have the flamboyent petals full of curves and twists like so many other varieties of parrot tulips – and magnificent shades of red and yellow. I took several photos of the Brilliant Tulips from different angles and different compostions – and this one of just the petals really conveyed the burst of colors I was seeing in the garden when I was photographing them.

Brilliant Tulips is available as a matted print on my website.

I’ve recently added a new photo –  Pink Cosmos – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

Pink Cosmos is another of the photos in my new collection of flowers photographed in the studio.   I’ve always loved cosmos – there is just something about their delicate blossoms that makes me smile. I also love all the different shades of pink you can find in just a few blossoms – everything from pale pinks to bright magentas. I was able to purchase a bunch of pink cosmos from a local grower at my farmers’ market – and then had a wonderful photographing them in my studio. This was my favorite of the photos I took that afternoon.

This photograph is available as a matted print. You can order Pink Cosmos from my website.

I’ve recently added a new photo –  Petals of a Purple & White Dahlia – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

Petals of a Purple & White Dahlia is another of the photos in my new collection of flowers photographed in the studio.  When I spotted this delicate dahlia at my local farmers’ market I fell in love with it. The purple tips of the some of the petals was one of those details I see in flowers that I knew I needed to photograph. I photographed this dahlia from several angles – this is probably my favorite photo from the set – focused in on the petals as they seem to be opening up to the sky. I hope you enjoy seeing this photo as much as I enjoyed photographing it.

This photograph is available as a matted print. You can order Petals of a Purple & White Dahlia from my website.

I’ve recently added a new photo – Azaleas Among the Trees – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

Every spring I try to visit the Azalea Garden at Brighton Dam in Brookville, Maryland. It’s one of the true hidden treasures in the Washington, DC area. The garden, established by the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission, has over 20,000 azalea bushes that bloom in early May. It’s the only place in the DC area I’ve found where I can wander among full-grown trees and azalea bushes taller than I am, turn a corner and see wonderful scenes like the one I captured in this photo. This was one of my photos from May of 2014 when I had the garden to myself the morning I went out to photograph there on a weekday morning.

This photograph is available as a matted photo. You can order Azaleas Among the Trees from my website.

I’ve recently added a new photo – Along the Fence – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

Bleeding hearts (one of my favorite spring flowers) and cats – of course I’m going to photograph them together. When I saw this spectacular scene in the Children’s Garden at the Coastal Maine Botanical Garden I know I had to photograph it. At the time – I called this the cutest garden fence ever – and nothing has happened to change my mind. I’ve displayed Along the Fence at a couple of shows and the reactions to it have been priceless. The number of people stopping, pointing and saying “It’s so cute!” has surprised even me. I can only hope this photo makes you smile as much as seeing the bleeding hearts along the fence made me smile.

This photograph is available as a matted photo. You can order Along the Fence from my website.

I’ve recently added a new photo – Iris Reflections – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

Last spring I spotted some wonderful yellow flag irises along the edge of a local pond. The first photos I took that morning were of the flowers – and then a few with the water line in the middle of the photo – flowers and land above the water line and the reflection below. But as I looked at the scene, I realized what interested me was the reflections of the irises and surrounding trees in the water. As the water rippled in the breeze, the reflections would change.  Here is my favorite photo from that morning – Iris Reflections – where I emphasized the reflections in the water rather than the flowers and trees on the land.

This photograph is available as a matted print in two sizes. You can order Iris Reflections from my website.
