I’ve recently added a new photo – Trio of Pink Gerbera Daisies – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

Trio of Pink Gerbera Daisies is the first photo in a new series of studio photos I’m working on. As many of you know – for years – I only photographed flowers where they were growing – either in gardens or parks. And while that is still my favorite way to photograph flowers – I’ll admit that at time I couldn’t create the photos that I wanted to. Either because the flowers weren’t in great shape, or there were other plants in between what I wanted to photograph – or oftentimes just because I couldn’t find what I wanted to photograph. So recently, I’ve started doing some work photographing flowers in my studio – under controlled lighting conditions. What I’m finding is that when I have control over the lights and the how the flowers are arranged I can create photos that I’ve never been able to create before. So here’s the first of my new line of flowers in the studio – a Trio of Pink Gerbera Daisies.

I’ve recently added a new photo – Compactino Lilies – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

As you may know, I love photographing Asiatic lilies. The blossoms can have such wonderful colors and textures. One of most spectacular lilies I’ve photographed in recent years was a set of Compactino Lilies. These wonderful lilies grow to 36″ tall and when planted in large groups create a sea of shades of pinks and magentas. They were wonderful to see and photograph. I hope you enjoy seeing these incredible lilies as much as I did.

I’ve recently added a new photo – Caribbean Rose – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

What can I say about a Caribbean Rose – other than everyone of them I’ve seen has been beautiful. The big beautiful blossoms on these roses light up a garden with their wonderful shades of peach and orange. When I found this one with the petal still covered with the morning dew – I knew I just had to photograph it – and offer it as a matted print – because I knew others would find it as beautiful as I did.

I’ve recently added a new photo –  Orange Princess Tulip – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

What can I tell you about the Orange Princess Tulip – other than it is one of the most incredible tulips I’ve ever seen or photographed! Like other double tulips, it is often confused with a peony! And this one was such a brilliant shade of orange with hints of green and red on the petals – the I knew I had to photograph it when I saw it. I photographed it from above in hopes of sharing the sense of unending beautiful soft petals that I saw in the garden. I hope you enjoy seeing my Orange Princess Tulip photo.

I’ve recently added a new photo –  Virginia Bluebells II  – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

One of the sure signs of spring here in the Washington DC area is when the Virginia Bluebells (mertensia virginica) bloom in the woods. One of my favorite places to photograph the bluebells and other spring wildflowers is along the C&O Canal in Maryland. It’s one of the spots where I can find any number of wildflowers blooming on any given day – toothwort, spring beauty, dutchman’s breeches, squirrel corn – and of course – Virginia bluebells. What attracted me to this particular plant was the pattern of the three clusters of blossoms and the mix of pinks and blues in the clusters. To me, it just said SPRING IS HERE!!!!

And as we head into winter here in the DC area – I’m already looking forward to photographing the Virginia Bluebells next spring 🙂

I’ve recently added a new photo – Tahitian Sunset Rose  – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.

Tahitian Sunset Roses are one of those roses that I just have to photograph each time I see them. They are known for their large beautiful blossoms in shades of orange, yellow, peach and apricot. This one was an amazing shade of peachy-apricot. It’s the only time I’ve found the Tahitian Sunset Roses in these colors. As I looked at it – I realized what attracted me to this particular blossom was the way the petals were opening up showing the various colors. As I photographed it – I tried to capture the soft colors and textures I saw in the early  morning light in a local rose garden.
