Beautiful Vision Iris © 2012 Patty Hankins
I’ve recently added a new photo – Beautiful Vision Iris – to my Beautifulflowerpictures.com website.
I’ve loved bearded irises since I was a child. My mother had an entire flower bed full of them that bloomed every summer – and every time I see a bearded iris – I remember Mom’s wonderful garden. The Beautiful Vision Iris is a tall Bearded Iris – growing 36 – 48 inches tall. The petals are mainly pink – with a hint of peach and purple, the beards are tangerine. I’ve photographed the Beautiful Vision Iris a few times at local gardens, finally this year, I created an image that really captures the beauty of this wonderful flower.
This photograph is available as either at 10 X 10″ or 20 X 20″ gallery-wrapped canvas. You can order Beautiful Vision Iris from my website.

White Trout Lily © 2012 Patty Hankins
I’ve recently added a new photo – White Trout Lily – to my Beautifulflowerpictures.com website.
I’ve photographed the White Trout Lilies ( Erythronium albidum) at Turkey Run Park in Virginia a few times now. They bloom in the early spring (at the same time as the yellow trout lilies) in the Washington DC area. On the right day at Turkey Run Park, it’s not uncommon to see close to 100 yellow trout lilies – but only 3 or 4 white ones. So I was thrilled to find this one particular white trout lily among a sea of green, just waiting to be photographed in the afternoon light.
This photograph is available as either at 12 X 18″ or 20 X 30″ gallery-wrapped canvas. You can order White Trout Lily from my website.

I’ve recently added a new photo – Trout Lily – to my Beautifulflowerpictures.com website.
For the past couple of years, I’ve been on the lookout for some Trout Lilies (Erythronium americanum) to photograph. They are an early spring wildflower – a beautiful splash of bright yellow found in the DC area in early April. Last spring, I finally found some at Turkey Run Park in Virginia. I also later photographed some along the Appalachian Trail in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. When I saw the trout lilies, I immediately knew what they were – their blossoms resemble other wild lilies such as the Turk’s Cap Lily and the Canada Lily. Now that I know what they look like, and when they bloom, I’ll be on the lookout for more of these delicate spring wildflowers to photograph.

Bent Trillium © 2012 Patty Hankins
I’ve recently added a new photo – Bent Trillium – to my Beautifulflowerpictures.com website.
Trilliums are some of my favorite spring wildflowers. I’m always on the lookout for new-to-me varieties to photograph – and to photograph favorite varieties in new ways. Last spring, I found several Bent Trillium (Trillium flexipes) to photograph at the Crockford Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area in North Georgia. I’d heard about Pigeon Mountain from Gerry Williamson (@USWildflowers on Twitter). It’s a wonderful place to visit (and photograph). This was my favorite photo of the Bent Trillium that I took that morning.
This photograph is available as either at 10 X 10″ or 20 X 20″ gallery-wrapped canvas. You can order Bent Trillium from my website.

Mancetta Sunset Chrysanthemum © 2012 Patty Hankins
I’ve recently added a new photo – Mancetta Sunset Chrysanthemum – to my Beautifulflowerpictures.com website.
In past few years, I’ve really come to appreciate all the wonderful varieties of chrysanthemums that are available. One of my favorites is the Mancetta Sunset Chrysanthemum – an anemone mum – with its petals in shades of peaches and oranges – with a bright yellow center. I hope you find this chrysanthemum to be as wonderful as I do.

Columbine © 2011 Patty Hankins
I’ve recently added a new photo – Columbine – to my Beautifulflowerpictures.com website.
Columbine (aquilegia canadensis) are one of my favorite spring wildflowers. The combination of red and yellow add a wonderful splash of color to the spring landscape. I photographed this columbine blossom along River Road in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There are a couple of patches of Columbine I visit (and photograph) every year in the Smokies – I’m already looking forward to seeing them in 2012.
This photograph is available as either at 10 X 10″ or 20 X 20″ gallery-wrapped canvas. You can order Columbine from my website.
