North Carolina’s Outer Banks 2
I recently spent some time photographing on North Carolina’s Outer Banks. Thought I’d share some of my photos from my trip.

I spent most of one morning at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site. What impressed me the most was the presentation of information about the Freedmen’s Colony on the island between 1862 and 1867. Along the Freedom Trail (about 1 1/4 miles one way) are several interpretive signs with information about the settlement and the people who lived there. With each sign, is a silhouette symbolizing one of the stories being told. This is from the “Freedom to be Educated” part of the trail. The sign had a quote about the importance of education from London Ferebee, a formerly enslaved man. There was also information on the sign about the penalties under North Carolina law for enslaved people to teach other enslaved people, as well as a bit of info about schools that the formerly enslaved attended.
And then I did lots of photography along the shore . . .
I used to do a lot of traveling and photographing. For many places, I really don’t have enough photo to do separate blog posts – so thought I’d start combining photos from various places into a series of photos from the road. Hope you enjoy seeing the scenes from some of my travels.
Last fall I spent several wonderful hours wandering in the woods and photographing at the North Carolina Arboretum outside of Asheville. I’d visited the arboretum several times before, but always in the spring or summer. So this was my first chance to see all the wonderful colors of fall there. It was well worth visiting – I had a wonderful time and got some great photos. Here are some of my photos of Fall Color at the North Carolina Arboreatum.
I’ve recently added a new photo – New Found Gap, Great Smoky Mountains National Park – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website
This is one of those scenes I’ve been wanting to capture for years. A beautiful day, blue skies, mountains, clouds – what more could a photographer ask for. Finally on my recent trip to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park I was able to capture this incredible view of Newfound Gap. Every time I look at the photo, it brings back so many memories of wonderful days spent in my favorite national park.

I’m back from a wonderful week photographing in the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina. This is one my favorite regions of the country to visit and photograph, so I was thrilled to be back in the area. Usually when I’m in the area, I mainly photograph wildflowers. This trip was a little different, I spent my time photographing the landscape. I thought I’d share a few of my photos from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Pisgah National Forest with you today.
