Still Lifes
Like many other people, I started baking again during the pandemic. I haven’t done much baking in recent years – food allergies meant gluten-free and early on my gluten-free baking efforts weren’t a success. But since then, gluten-free flour mixes have come on the market, and there are lots more recipe sites with gluten-free recipes. So it was time to try again – after all – I wasn’t going anywhere – might as well start baking.
So as the first in a new series of photos – known informally as the “I’m so fucking bored, I’m baking” series – here are some blueberry muffins.
Ok – so I’m giving up on trying to organize posts subject. These days, I’m just grouping by season or subject or location.

Flowers
Still lifes
This is one of a series of still life photographs I created with a bunch of flowers from a local flower farm and some vintage gardening tools. In this photo, a gardener has everything she needs to continue to grow beautiful flowers in her garden – her gardening tools, a watering can and a little wooden tote for carrying her tools.
Background textures from The French Kiss Collection and Definitely Dreaming.

Still lifes taken at a workshop with Marie Otero and Karen Burns
I created this still life with other participants at a workshop with Karen Burns and Marie Otero. We started out with the sewing tools – added what looked like a handmade stuffed rabbit carrying a butterfly net. And then we added the butterflies, and some flowers. Rearranged things more than a few times, to finally create this adorable scene. This was one of the workshops that has inspired me to create still life photographs of my own.
