I recently had the chance to photograph some Florist’s Cyclamen – cyclamen persicum. I’m used to seeing this flowers in a small pot at a local store or in a friend’s home and they’ve never really appealed to me. When I saw them at a local botanical garden in a large grouping – all of a sudden I fell in the love with the shapes and patterns formed by the petals.
Florist’s cyclamen are native to the middle East – ranging from Turkey to Israel. They grow up to 6 inches tall – with 5 small sepals and 5 larger upward sweeping petals. They can be found in colors ranging from white to pink to magenta.
