Bill and I recently returned from a wonderful trip to Death Valley and the Alabama Hills. We both attended Alain Briot’s December 2008 Death Valley workshop and had a wonderful time.

We photographed at several locations in Death Valley, and in a couple spots in the Alabama Hills. Among the place we photographed were Zabriskie Point , the playa (photo at the top of this post is of Alain Briot photographing at the playa), Artist’s Palette, the Sand Dunes,  and Badwater Basin.

Both Bill and I were amazed at the variety of landscapes in the park. The size and scope of the terrain is so different than we see here on the East Coast.  This next photo shows Bill photographing at Zabriskie Point. The hills are made up of sediments from a lake that dried up millions of years ago.

Between Bill and I, we took lots of photos on our trip. It will probably take us a while to get them sorted, edited and posted to the blog. I’ve got over 25 GB of photos to go through. Bill has several GB of digital files, and over 50 4X5 sheets of film out being processed. If you’d like a preview of some of the places we photographed, two of our fellow workshop participants, Michel Taupin and Vlad Sadovsky, have already posted some of their photos from the trip.

We look forward to sharing our Death Valley photos with you as we get them processed.
