I’ve recently added a new photo – View from Steptoe Butte – to my BeautifulFlowerPictures.com website.
In July I made my first visit to the Palouse region of Washington state. Over the years, I’ve seen many photos of the farms and fields in the region highlighting the contrasting colors between the wheat and other crops growing on the farms. But it wasn’t until I got there and saw how large the area is and for how many miles some of the fields seem to stretch on for that I began to understand the scope of the agricultural industry in that part of the state – and the incredible beauty of the farms. One of my favorite places to photograph the fields in the Palouse is from the top of Steptoe Butte. Located in Steptoe Butte State Park, the butte rises about 1000 feet over the surrounding landscape, providing photographers and others a 360 degree view of the fields in the area. During my few days in the region, I photographed from the top of the butte several times – this was my favorite photo – showing the vastness of the fields with a farm giving a sense of scale, and the varying shades of green, yellow, gold and brown in the fields. I had a wonderful photographing in the Palouse – and hope to return there soon.
View from Steptoe Butte is available as a matted print on my website.
