I’ve made it home – and still have a few more wildflower photos from my trip to share. These last two posts will have wildflower photos taken in North Carolina.
My route took me from Sweetwater, TN to Asheville, NC. I had a wonderful drive through the mountains -with lots of fantastic wildflowers.
My first stop in North Carolina was the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest. I’d heard from people in the Smokies about how wonderful it was there and they certainly were right. The wildflowers at Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest were blooming later than they had been in the Smokies – so I was able to photograph some of the earlier blooming wildflowers.
Star Chickweed – Stellaria pubera
Wake Robin Trillium – Trillium erectum. I’d never seen one with the red on the leaves before.
Bent Trillium or White Trillium or Nodding Wake Robin Trillum – Trillium Flexipes
After photographing at Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, I headed towards Asheville. My drive took me along parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway where I photographed another set of Dwarf Larkspur.

I’ll post the last few photos from my trip – those taken in Asheville, NC in a couple of days. I hope you’re enjoying my wildflower photos from my trip to TN and NC
I’ve enjoyed following your trip on Twitter! Much success with the photos you’ve captured…truly a great body of work!
Thanks Patty for the photo journey. You have been most successful with lighting hence high contrast. The Trillium is the official flower for the province of Ontario!
