This summer, the gardeners at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, Maryland planted ornamental peppers around the sundial in the Trial Garden section of the gardens. The variety growing there this year was Capsicum Annuum – Garda Tricolore. The peppers – in all sorts of wonderful shades of red, yellow, orange and purple, grew on low plants that quickly spread to fill the area around the sundail.
Here are some of the photos of the peppers that I took in September.

They’re great… remind me of the large Christmas lights.
Your photos are so refreshing. Ditto the Christmas lights.
Hi Patty….awwww…looks like two people beat me to the Christmas lights comparison! Love the raindrops on the peppers, too. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks everyone. When I saw the peppers the first thing I thought of was Christmas lights as well. Guess great minds all think alike 🙂
Great pops of color!!!
ARE THESE PREINIALS OR ANNUALS
Linda – I’m afraid I don’t know if they are perrenials or annuals. I photographed them at a local garden rather than in my own garden. Sorry I can’t be more help
I heard these little peppers could be placed in a glass decorative bottle with herbs and extra virgin olive oil – to be used as flavoring for cooking or just for decoration. Wondering if anybody knows how to process fresh veg’s and herbs in order for them to stay preserved.
Thanks
I have one of these plants growing on my railing. The little peppers are quite hot. I plan to dry them and grind them down and use as a spice.
