On my recent trip to New Orleans, I spent some time walking around the French Quarter photographing the various musicians playing in the streets. One of the wonderful things about New Orleans is the music. Where ever you walk in the city, you’re likely to hear music coming out a window or find a musician or band playing on a street corner. In the French Quarter, there are usually two or three groups of musicians playing along Royal and Bourbon Streets on any afternoon. So I spent time almost every day wandering, listening to music and photographing the musicians. These photos are just some quick edits of photos I did while I was on the road – at some point I’ll go back and do more comprehensive edits on my photos from the trip – but I wanted to share these photos with you today.
And with all the wonderful music – it’s not unusual to see couples dancing in the street
I will be leading a photography workshop in New Orleans in February 2018. Tentative dates are just after Mardi Gras – so February 18-24. We’ll be based out of a historic hotel in the French Quarter. We’ll spend time exploring and photography the wonders of New Orleans. The workshop will be limited to 6 participants. If this workshop sounds like an adventure you’d like to join me for, drop me a note and I’ll make sure you’re among the first to hear when registration opens later this year.
