I’ve been photographing lots of ranunculus blossoms in my studio recently. My local floral wholesaler has been getting in some beautiful colors of these delicate blossoms – and I can’t resist photographing the layers of petals.
This set of photos are of a group of pink ranunculus blossoms that I created using Helicon Focus software to stack the images. Each image here is a combination of multiple photographs – each photographed with the same aperture and shutter speed – and different focal points. Using Helicon Focus, I’m able to combine the photos into one image that appears to have a greater depth of field than I could manage with any one image.
In other words – the software lets me create photos like I’ve always dreamed of creating – just couldn’t do before. So I’m having a great time experimenting with combinations of flowers and settings to see what I can create. I hope you enjoy seeing this set of photos. I’ll be posting more of my ranunculus photos in the weeks to come.
