In recent months, I’ve been experimenting with photographing flowers as portraits with custom backgrounds designed to highlight what I see as the personality of the flowers. For this poppy anemone, I wanted to emphasize the soft purples in the petals and the greys in the seeds. To me, the flower just felt like a visit will a gentle friend, who no matter how long it’s been since we last talked, the conversation picks up right where it left off.
