Last spring, Bill and I spent a few hours at Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge in Georgia. We were there mid-afternoon, not a particularly great time for landscape photography. It was a bright sunny day with lots of wind. Harris Neck NWR is known for its salt marshes and the large numbers of birds that nest there.
One of the great surprises for me was the number of prickly pear cactuses in the refuge.

The salt marshes and ponds at Harris Neck offer some great photographic opportunities. We just were there at the wrong time of day to take the kind of photos I would have wanted to create. Many of the trees are covered with Spanish moss.
Here are a couple of the photos of one of the salt marsh ponds.

I’m hoping to get back to Harris Neck NWR in the future. There are some amazing landscape opportunities, in addition to all the birds and flowers.
