Each fall several of the local botanical gardens have all sorts of Chrysanthemums on display – which means lots of fun photographic opportunities. The spider mums are probably my favorite type of Chrysanthemum.
I thought I’d share a few of my Spider Mum photos from last fall

I don’t get to see many Quill Chrysanthemums – which means not many photos of them. But every now and then – I find a few that are spectacular. This year – I photographed two varieties of Quill Chrysanthemums – Judith Baker and Saffina.
Quill Chrysanthemums are one of the thirteen classes of chrysanthemums recognized by the National Chrysanthemum Society. They are known for their straight tubular florets with open tips.

I just realized I never finished posting my Chrysanthemum photos from last year. Somehow I keep finding more photos that I’ve edited and never shared with you here on my blog. So here they are – the last Chrysanthemum photos from 2012.

Every fall I have a wonderful time photographing chrysanthemums at local botanical gardens. But I never seem to get the photos edited to share the photos when I take them. Instead I seem to post them in the spring. So here are a few of the Intermediate and Irregular Incurve Chrysanthemums I photographed last fall.
The Irregular Incurve Chrysanthemums are known for the curving petals and tight centers. They are often among the largest types of chrysanthemums I see each year.

The Intermediate Incurve Chrysanthemums tend to be a bit smaller than the Irregular Incurve Chrysanthemums. They have shorter petals and a more open center.

Spider Mums are my favorite type of chrysanthemum. The long tube-like petals give these mums amazing shapes and textures. And I’ve been seeing them in some pretty wonderful color combinations in recent years. For some reason – my favorites spider mum photos from 2012 were flowers in various shades of purple.
