Orange Tulip

This is another photograph in my series of flowers photographed as portraits with custom backgrounds designed to highlight what I see as the personality of the flowers. When I saw how the petals on this tulip were opening up, she struck me as an adventurous woman, not afraid to do things her own way. So I added a background that has both colors that complement the colors in the petals, and lines that add a more dramatic element to the photo than if there were just soft colors behind the flower.

Danceline Tulips

While I was photographing tulips at Longwood Gardens, I fell in love with the Danceline Tulips. They reminded me of some of the ranunculus I photographed a few years ago – white petals with bits of purple. Instead of purple – these amazing tulips have varying amounts of red on the petals.

Every year Longwood Gardens creates an amazing display of tulips! When I visit Longwood in late April, I know I’ll likely see some varieties I’ve seen before – and some that are new to me.

This year – one of the spectacular tulips I photographed for the first time were the Estalla Rijnveld Parrot Tulips. Bright colors, fabulous shapes, incredible textures – what more could a flower photographer ask for than what I found in these extraordinary tulips.

I’ve recently added a new photo – Rainbow Parrot Tulip – to my website at https://beautifulflowerpictures.com/store/rainbowparrottulip/

I’m not really sure what kind of parrot tulip this is but with almost every color of the rainbow in the petals of various tulips in the bunch, I decided to call it a rainbow parrot tulip. As I photographed the petals, I was amazed at all the colors and textures I was seeing.
