On my recent trip to Georgia and South Carolina I did a lot of photography that was outside my usual comfort zone. Instead of photographing flowers and a few landscapes – I photographed a wide variety of subjects. I looked to my boards on Pinterest for inspiration for subjects to photograph. As I looked at my Pinterest I realized I’ve pinned an awful lot of photos of trees – many of the photos are close-up/detailed photos of bark or textures in the trees.
While I was exploring the Wormsloe Historic Site in Savannah, Georgia I spotted some trees that had all sorts of neat textures – and instead of just looking at them and walking past – I stopped and started photographing. I got some neat photos – nothing I’m thrilled with to the point where I’m ready to start making prints to sell of them – but something a little different than I usually photograph.
I’m not sure where I’m going with this series of photos – but I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more interesting textures in the trees as I’m out photographing this year.
those are beautiful abstracts–although the last one is surely the spirit of great grandfather squirrel come to guard the supply of nuts and goodies–assuming that tree produced nuts…and goodies. love them all.
I always thought that those scary trees in the forests of the Disney and the Wonderland cartoons were from some artist’s imagination, but you have captured the real thing here. these trees are so beautiful–in their own way. sorta makes those tall slender pine trees look a little plain and uninteresting–even though they have their own important purposes in life… where would we be without those telephone poles…. ;D
