Inspired by what I learned at the Still Life and Food Photography workshop I took last month with Karen Burns and Marie Otero, I’ve decided to try doing some still life photography and see where it goes. I’m starting out with fairly simple setups – grabbing a few vegetables out of the kitchen.

Here are a few of my still life photos of tomatoes and peppers – and I will say it’s a whole lot easier to photograph still life scenes when someone else sets them up, sets the lights, and is there to offer expert assistance. I suspect it’s going to be a long learning curve before I’m able to create photos on my own similar to the ones I created in the workshop I attended.
