Trillium Grandiflorum

As I’ve been looking back at some of my unweeded photo sets on my hard drive, I realized that I have hundreds of unsorted, unedited photos of various types of trillium. I love seeing trillium in the woods in the spring, so I’m not sure why I’ve never looked closely at some of the photos I’ve taken of trillium. I’ve decided it’s time to sorting, weeding and editing some of them. So today I’m sharing some of my photos of Trillium Grandiflorum.

Trillium Grandiflorum, also known as white trillium, is one of the most commonly seen trillium in the spring in the Southeastern United States. Native to most of the Eastern half, Trillium grandiflorum grows in the woods in the spring, and can be so prolific that it seems to cover the hillsides. Once a trillium grandiflorum has been pollinated, the white petals turn pink.  I’ve photographed Trillium grandiflorum  in Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC.
